The 2025 Texas Lunar Festival, hosted by the ITC Educational and Cultural Foundation, was a resounding success, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the Lunar New Year and honor the rich cultural traditions of the Asian community. The event, which took place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at the Alief Career Center in Houston, Texas, was a true testament to the spirit of unity and diversity that defines the community.
The festival celebrated the Year of the Snake, as symbolized in the Chinese Lunar calendar, and featured a variety of live performances that showcased the best of Asian and international culture. Special guests in attendance included Congressman Al Green, the Mayor of Houston, John Whitmire, Aleif School Superintendent Dr. Anthony May, and several other esteemed elected officials. Their presence highlighted the importance of the festival in promoting cultural awareness and fostering unity within the Greater Houston area.


For over 28 years, the Texas Lunar Festival has served as an opportunity to highlight the remarkable diversity, leadership, and contributions of the Asian community. This year’s event was no different, with the ITC Educational and Cultural Foundation expanding the festivities to include even more performances and activities that captivated attendees throughout the day.

In addition to the captivating live performances, the festival was broadcast live on STV 21.8, reaching not only local attendees but viewers across the globe. The event was also streamed online at scdaily.com and through the Southern News TV app, allowing a broader audience to experience the vibrant celebrations from anywhere in the world.
The festival’s success was also driven by its many community partners, including the Chinese New Year Festival Inc., the Alief School District, and the International Management District. Their collaboration made the event truly special, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and community building.
