On October 20, Houston City College Southwest and Southern News Group launched a milestone partnership with the debut of their joint AI training program at SNG’s Alief headquarters.
Twenty-two students attended the inaugural session, the first of three forward-looking tracks: AI, Apple technologies, and Entrepreneurship.
The AI track, coordinated by April Felton, HCC Southwest program director of continuing tech education, and conducted by Professor Anna Rachapudi, introduces students to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and hands-on applications.
The Apple technologies track, guided by Andre Hermann, Director of the Eagle Spark Community Education Initiative, focuses on practical skills with Apple hardware and software.
The Entrepreneurship track, spearheaded by Associate Vice Chancellor Maya Durnovo, will equip students with the knowledge and tools to launch and grow their own businesses, starting this November.
Initiated by college Communications Director Zen Zheng and college President Dr. Michael Webster, the program embodies a vision shared by both HCC leaders and Wea Lee, Southern News Group president, delivering hands-on technology and entrepreneurial skills directly to the community and marking a significant step in expanding learning and opportunity.
